"Creating the Perfect Outdoor Oasis: Design of an Oak Frame Pavilion and Dining Area with Stunning Views over Cheshire and Wales"

We designed and built this lovely Oak frame pavilion, cook house, gazebo, outdoor entertaining area for a customer who wanted to make the most of the wonderful views from his garden looking from Cheshire towards the Welsh Mountains.

After the initial enquiry we received a design brief from the customer for an Oak framed outdoor dining area approximately 9m long x 4m deep with extra 6.5m long x 4m area to the rear of the structure. We visited the property to talk through the design in detail and also mark out the area. Marking out the design allows the customer to see the size of the design, consider the aspect, how the light falls, the view and the potential positioning of enclosed sides or glass panels to provide shelter. We then produce the design drawings from which the full specification is confirmed and the quote for the Oak Pavilion is produced. This Oak frame structure used a range of design features including an L Shape, hipped roof and also an Oak truss in the gable end.

Once the contract was agreed and confirmed for the Oak dining area the groundworks began. To protect the lawn we used track mats for the machinery to prepare the area before the re enforced concrete base is laid. All Cheshire Oak Structures designs have structural calculations for each part of the build.

After delivery the Oak structure is checked and sorted ready for assembly. The next stage in the construction of the Oak frame is positioning the Oak posts, Oak beams and Oak knee braces. Our traditional Oak framed structures fit together using mortice & tenon joints and Oak pegs. Next he stud walls and wind bracing are added to which the Larch weatherboard is fitted.

We use external and internal scaffolding to allow the ridge board and roof rafters to be fitted. This Oak outdoor design has an Oak truss in the gable end which was fitted at this stage in the build. The roof covering of cedar shingles were then fitted. The interior specification on our Oak Pavilion / Gazebos varies depending on the individual design. This Oak design had Larch weatherboard fitted to the interior walls and also softwood timber tongue and groove boarding to the ceiling area.

The finished Oak frame entertainment space provides a place for cooking and serving food plus a wonderful dining area with beautiful views towards Wales. The view at sunset over the Welsh hills from this Oak pavilion is stunning. This Oak outdoor living design creates a fantastic area where the family can enjoy a meal together followed by relaxing evening drinks watching the sun set.
