Top Car Tours & Hill Climb Events in Cheshire & the surrounding Counties, summer 2026: Compiled by Cheshire Oak Structures

To follow on from our blog in June, Exciting Events to Attend compiled by Cheshire Oak Structures , we thought we’d highlight a few more different types of events, including car tours and hill climbs. These events attract a wide variety of different vehicles and we often hear about them through meeting customers who participate in them. Oak garages can provide the ideal environment to garage and maintain a vintage or classic car providing a breathable, weather proof, secure environment for your car.

From our base half way between Chester and Shrewsbury we have several very local car tours and easily accessible hill climb venues.

Generally, speaking car tours feature vintage sports cars and exploring beautiful parts of the countryside.

Vintage Sports Car Club is a great place to find out about car tours as they arrange a calendar of events (VSCC's Interactive Events Calendar) throughout the summer.

A car tour typically starts with coffee, receiving a rally plate for the car and a road book with detailed instructions on the route including places of interest, with usually a meal at the finish point.

The Lancashire Tour took place at the end of July, starting in the Ribble Valley, continuing up Waddington Fell, where around 1914 there was a hill climb, before driving over Pendle Hill with its beautiful panoramic views.

On 9 August 2026, the Cheshire Tour will start from Farndon, just south of Chester.

The route of approximately 75 miles, journeys through four counties, with plenty of variety, on nice touring roads, avoiding very narrow lanes, which vintage sports cars enjoy, taking in attractive landscapes and interesting villages.

The list of entries for the Cheshire tour is shown on the Vintage Sports Car Club website and includes, amongst others, a Sunbeam Alpine, Jaguar XK150 Roadster, Austin 7 Ulster, MG, Wolseley Hornet, and a Sunbeam 4.5 litre Laundaulette.

The Vintage Sports Car Club host a Welsh Trial on 10 & 11 October in the town of Presteigne. First held in 1939, the Welsh Trial is one of the linchpins of the VSCC sporting season. Open exclusively to Vintage cars, competitors will experience the thrill of competing on classic trials sections.

Coincidentally, Presteigne and the surrounding Marches border region are well-known for oak-framed buildings. The main street in Presteigne features a variety of historical Oak frame buildings.

Car tours and Hill Climbs seem to be interlinked and a great place to start investigating Hill Climbs is the HOME | British Hillclimb Championship website.

Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in Worcestershire boasts being the oldest motorsport venue in the world still using its original course. They host hill climbs, motorsport and social events, car club meetings etc throughout the year. August is a very busy month at Shelsley Walsh with:-

8 & 9 August - The British Hillclimb Championship

20 August - Cars in the Valley – a more social meeting up of owners with classic, modern, vintage or supercars and bikes

22 August Food & Fuel – Up the Hill. A hill climb that debuted in 2025 with a curated mix of cars, hill climb runs, display cars and fantastic selection of street food.

Also, very local to Cheshire Oak Structures is the the site for Loton Park Hill climb at Alberbury near Shrewsbury. Hagley and District Light Car Club (established in 1035) host this hill climb and also have a busy calendar of events (2026 Events | HDLCC) during the summer months including:-
