Oak Sun Room, Garden Room, Cookhouse, Pool Shelter, Entertainment Space - Our Oak Structures are so

The enquiry for this Oak Sun Room Garden Shelter was first made in July 2017 but as is often the case it became a longer term project. After a visit to the site in the heart of Cheshire, a quote and keenness to move forward, life got in the way and it was January 2019 when the customer was able to contact us again. We sat down with the clients again to discuss and update the design. The brief was for a Sun / Garden Room to be positioned at one end of the outdoor pool to provide shelter from the sun and British weather and an entertainment area for a couple with a young family. We worked with the client to design the Oak Frame Sun Room complete with brickwork fireplace and chimney with areas to house built in fridges, a barbeque, breakfast bar style area and other decorative features to create a very flexible, versatile, luxury space.

This was a more complex build in terms of project management but that’s what we specialise in at Cheshire Oak Structures, delivering the complete service from design to completion, making the project stress free for the client. We worked closely with other suppliers to make sure the appliances and brickwork were a fit, with the electrician on the lighting and with the ground worker laying the slab to make sure everything went to plan and time.

First we started by digging out for the re enforced base before starting the brickwork. Our workshop had to make the Oak frame slightly differently due to the differing heights of the walls and chimney. The brickie was very precise with the measurements for the feature brickwork and chimney to prevent any adjustments having to be made when the Oak frame was put up. Three Oak truss’s, one in each gable end and one in the centre, are featured in this frame for the Oak Cookhouse.

Once the principal Oak frame was up the roof was cut on and the roof covering installed. The client choose a Cedar Shingle roof covering to be sympathetic with the garden and surroundings. We source the highest specification Cedar Shingles from Canada which our joiners fit by hand.

One of the detailed finishes used in this Oak garden shelter was the high specification resin finish for the floor. There is a choice of colour for these resin finished and this client selected a grey/beige speckled colour to co-ordinate and tone in with their furniture.

Another finishing detail was the tongue and groove boarding fitted under the roof to create the feel of an outside living room. The client added a range of stylish accessories including feature lighting, flower vases, a stunning clock, hurricane lamps in addition to their garden furniture to complete the beautiful Oak Pavilion. A raised flower bed was also constructed to the back of the Oak Building.

The finished Oak Cookhouse looks amazing and was used to host a party as soon as we moved off site. The British weather being what it is decided to pour rain all afternoon but the party guests were all dry and snug in the Oak Garden Shelter.

We hope you agree the Oak Cookhouse fully furnished and accessorized, lit up at dusk looks stunning. The client does, as they gave the Cheshire Oak Structures team fantastic gifts as a 'Thank You' present!
